Why Does A Rose Have A Thorn

I'm more of a writer than a poet, but one day, I was sitting on my porch stairs and saw the new rose bush. I had recently become a Christian so often my heart and mind was in awe of God's glory and the beauty of his creation and as I sat, looking at this rose bush a question came to my mind: "Why do roses have thorns?" These flowers often represent beauty, so why would it also have a thorn. The following poem comes from my faith and this question.
Someone tell me, why a rose has a thorn.
Why I look at a rose and I feel forlorn,
Or when I see its beauty I feel new.
These are some things I have questions to.
Tell me why, when it droops, i feel gloom,
Like a really dark cloud that stays to loom.
Tell me why, when I see a bud about to bloom,
I feel like a bride walking to her groom.
Or when you cut a rose off its vine,
Why does it wither while its color still shines?
Someone tell me why there's thorns on a rose!
This is my question that I think nobody knows.
Then there came a voice, a voice from above,
The voice said, "I made the roses of love.
That rose, you look at, and it makes you feel blue,
That rose you see and it makes you feel new.
I can answer the questions you have in a line.
All I need from you is just some of your time.
See the beauty of my rose is the beauty of My Son,
To show you that now your burden is none.
The bud you see is His virgin birth
And when he was buried, I unearthed.
You ask, 'why a rose droops you feel gloom,'

That's when He was martyred and thrown in a tomb.
You ask, 'why it withers and keeps its red pedals dyed,'
I tell you it's His blood when He opened his arms wide.
They nailed My Son to a cross and to hand above
And He took your sin with him; He took it with love.
You ask, 'why does a rose have a thorn,'
I tell you it's your sin He took and he had worn.
Be when He was buried three days in the grave,
He rose again for all sinners to save.
That's why a rose has a thorn.
Let me tell you child, you don't have to mourn,
For Jesus Christ will return, this was sworn.
Jesus, The Lord, with come when heaven blows it's horn."
